Indefinite Hiatus

Well, it's been a hot minute.

It's been over a year since I've written in here as I've been hit with a major writer's block. 2019 and 2020 has taken a lot out of me and my mental health and I just had to step back and re-evaluate a lot of things that was happening in my life. I couldn't physically and mentally bring myself to write any new content.

Therefore, almost a year later, with the heaviest heart, I've made the decision to put this blog on an indefinite hiatus. I've decided to also revert all my posts back into "draft" form, leaving behind only this post. I'm not sure how long this hiatus is gonna be but I need to take this time away. But I sure do hope that I'll be able to come back here one day, when I'm in a better place and pick up where I left off, and you'll be right there to continue that new journey with me.

I've had the time of my life writing in here but I don't think that I'll be able to write anything in the near future. I just want to say thank you for all the love and support that you've shown me. I love each and everyone of you.

On the hindsight, before drawing down the curtains on this blog, here's how 2019 and 2020 has been for me:

2019 had a lot of its own up's and down's. But to give you'll an "in" into my 2019, the best "up" was definitely getting into Law school. Yeet!!!! In fact, as I'm writing this, I'm also prepping for my finals for the first year. Unfortunately, due to the Covid - 19 lock down, my exams had to be postponed by two months, thus cutting my summer break short and prolonging my anxiety. But obviously, there are more important things going on in the world right now that needs more attention than me complaining about my exams.

I'm currently an external programme law student with the University of London and well let's just say that I haven't had a minute to catch my breathe. Finals is also coming up in less than 2 weeks so stress and anxiety level is running really high right now.

Another up that I had (in fact my whole family had in 2019) was that we brought in a new addition to our family, Lisa! She's a 5 year old golden retriever, who belongs to a friend that my family and I have dog-sat occasionally since she was a puppy but we're currently co-petting her with our friend and she's been with us since last November! She's been such a joy to have in our home and own little dog Aishu has a new friend. We're having the greatest time with her.

Another great memory that I had in 2019 was the New Year's Eve. I had the most beautiful and wonderful night with my cousins and family. In fact, that was our first time bringing in the New Year's together so it was definitely a night to remember. I hope that we get to make it a tradition and do it every other year as well.

Into 2020.

2020, has been eventful. No shit.

I hope everyone is safe and sound. I hope you and your loved ones are well. As well as going through a global pandemic, we're also collectively fighting for another problem that has been around for a very long time.

Racism.

My heart goes out to the every lives lost all these years due to racism and police brutality and every other possible reasons and I truly hope that justice will be served.

I stand with you.

I've been doing my part by signing petitions, and sharing valid information as much as possible for this issue. Link below for #BlackLivesMatter

I would also like to address the issue of mental health. Once again. I know that a lot of you were in lock down as I did in my country due to Covid-19 and had to be at home most of the time and being unable to do the usual things that used to make you feel good and distract you.

To everyone who might possibly read this, I just want to say that you are not alone, and you are so very loved. Please reach out to your family and friends during these dark times. Everyone is going through something that they won't say out loud. Every life is just as precious as the other and its important not to leave out anyone. Always remember to treat people with kindness.

I can only hope that 2020 gets better from here onward. Stay safe.

Signing out for now,
Thanusha. x
